PILOTHOUSE
CUTTER
$135 000
OWNER SELLING DUE TO
ILL HEALTH
This vessel is well-balanced for single-handed sailing with #2 working genoa and main. In heavy weather (>30 knots) staysail and first reef in mainsail creates a balanced rig - carried this rig with second reef in 55 knots across Bass Strait.
Easy single-handed sailing with low ratio rig and electric winches. A boom-brake adds to control. Will maintain steerage (4-5 knots) at 30 degrees to the wind in 10-15 knots of true wind.
Arguably classed as a motor sailing vessel due to her low-ratio sail plan, strong rig , duel helms and 85HP engine. Theoretical hull speed is 7.8 knots. Will sail in excess of this with +20 knots of breeze on the quarter. Maximum speed noted at 12 knots on the quarter in 30 knots of breeze.
She will motor at 4 knots with engine at 1500 revs (5 litres per hour) in reasonably benign conditions. Revs out at 2,500.

INVENTORY
MAKE:
C & C Landfall
MODEL:
Pilothouse cutter
VESSEL PLAN:
As a pilothouse with 2 steering stations (internal and cockpit) the vessel is completely dry in weather even in adverse conditions. The F/G dodger (not standard for a C&C) provides great protection (new clears fitted April 2021)
Unique design with a large aft cabin AND an extra-large cockpit is due to the V-Drive shaft configuration. The aft cockpit allows the helmsman and cockpit crew to monitor sail performance. The raised (internal) pilothouse cabin provides direct viewing at sea level height. This has been a major advantage of the layout.
