BUILD Fibre glass construction with 3 ton lead keel, alloy spars, a Sparkman & Stephens design for the Canadian yard of Hughes, known as the "Hughes 38" being 38ft oa, 10.6ft beam and 6 ft draught. Designed as a cruiser racer, an extremely good sea-boat sailed by present owner across the Atlantic twice and through Panama across the Pacific. Sister ships have circumnavigated many times. The hull was anti-fouled August this year.
ENGINE Yanmar 3GMD of 28hp in good working order, with 3 bladed prop, burning aprox 2.1 ltrs /hr at 4.5kts, giving range of approximately 100 miles depending on conditions, without use of additional fuel carried in cans. Comes with parts book, manual and some spares.
TANKS 54ltr stainless steel fuel tank with additional 4 x 20ltr plastic fuel cans . Approximately 80ltrs of water in a flexible tank under starboard saloon berth, with stowage for bottled water under port bunk.

RIGGING SS 7 standing rigging, and alloy spars
GALLEY 3 burner "Force 10" gimballed stove with oven and grill, from 13kg propane tank in gas-tight , self draining locker under helmsman's seat with gas alarm in bilge. Spare tank under forward bunk. Sink with "flipper" pumps for FW from tank and SW from filtered inlet. Full set of pots pans dishes, mugs and glass.
WATER MAKER Katadyn hand unit making approximately 1 gal/hr. Complete with chemical set for membrane cleaning and storage. Special non metallic inlet going through 20 and 5 micron filters to galley pump and valve for use with water maker.
FRIDGE / FREEZER Converted built in ice box with compressor and dole plate. Combination is well insulated, efficient and draws aprox 3.5 amps at 12 volts, The volume is comparatively large and can be subdivided so one end freezes and the other can store vegetables.
ELECTRICS Rewired 4 years ago by previous american owner the vessel has two 12 volt battery banks, one starter bank of a single 120amp/hr lead acid battery and one 12volt domestic bank of two "Trojan" 6 volt batteries giving 240 amp/hrs, with change over switch for either or both to operate. Batteries can be charged from 240 or 110volt shore supplies or can be charged by wind generator or two 100 watt solar panels on coach roof. A third optional solar panel can be displayed. The engine has a 100 amp generator allowing it to supply any or all appliances whilst also charging the batteries at a controlled rate. The batteries are monitored with a clear instrument by the chart table. All outgoing circuits are protected by breakers. Two 240Volt inverters. There is also a Kipor 2000IG 240/12 volt suitcase generator
LIGHTING All compartments are adequately lit by LED lights and the navigation lights for sailing or anchoring are also LED, with lights for 'under engine" being halogen. A full range of spares are carried.
BILGE PUMPS The vessel has a single deep bilge with three pumps and an alarm. There is a hand "gusher " pump (with spares) operated from the cockpit. There is an automatic electric pump to bottom of bilge and a larger capacity pump a little higher in the bilge also automatic, but both electric pumps may be switched to operate by choice.
ELECTRONICS The vessel has monitored batteries, chart plotter with "Open CPN" and world wide charts. There is a second back chart plotter. Three GPS systems , two AIS receivers, depth sounder and GPS navigator with repeater in cockpit. USB player. Icom MC304 VHF. Gas alarm from bilge. The vessel is also sold with an Inmarsat telephone.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT 4 man Seago life-raft, Rockets, flares and smoke pot and "V" sign, full set of flags, EPIRB, two self inflating lifejackets with built in harness and lights, two jacket type life jackets, one throw harness mounted on push-pit.
TENDER AND OUTBOARD Yam 2.3 inflatable tender with manual and electric inflators stowed in canvas wrap on fore deck. 2 hp Yanmar outboard stowed on push-pit bracket, with spare outboard under frd bunk.
WC COMPARTMENT Small compartment with small sink and SW pump. Jabsco WC with small optional holding tank facility.
TOOLS ETC... The vessel is being sold as is cruising ready, the owner only wishing to remove his personal items for air flight back to UK. There is therefore in addition a wide range of hand tools including palm sander, jig saw, electric drill, hoover, impact driver, all either chargeable or directly driven from 240 volt mains or generator. In addition there are hand tools, wet weather gear etc... a Mini I pad, fishing gear & extensive medical kit.
